The Maul - Guccifest

A trailer for a video game that doesn’t exist. As the characters come to realise there is no end product, they start to question their own existence as avatars within ‘The Maul’, a post-apocalyptic virtual world of Wrighton’s creation that he has returned to throughout his career.

Gareth Wrighton is a London-based designer. Gareth showed for the first time with London East in 2019, where he launched his own knitwear brand. Known for his handmade one-offs that have appeared on magazine covers, he is also a multidisciplinary artist and video game designer.

Gold is a music video for the musical duo IcComs. It is based on twitch live streams where gamers stream themselves playing video games to a live audience. The video consists of the two artists sitting down on a computer with a webcam streaming them as they travel through different levels as their own playable characters.

The video has a lot of hidden meanings and themes of conspiracy theories as well as a live ‘narration’ provided by the live chat on the right hand side, where ‘viewers’ can send messages to the duo.

Clarity - Hermz 4K

This video was made with Mister Ellison, a videographer from East London. We combined my 3D animation with his well shot studio shots to create quite a strange edit. The narrative behind it was these chrome beings who come to ‘abduct’ Hermz4k and turn them into one of him.

AI Visualisers

I experimented with some of the new free AI tools available to the public last year. I combined image generation, ai text to speech and then using the ai speech to animate the image. I then edited 2 short videos to create quite a weird narrative with strange visual language.

We were commisioned to create an animated genie of Jamaican dancehall DJ, Beenie Man. The brief was to have Beenie Man appearing from a trail of smoke from a bottle and performing to the crowd of people.
